The Author -- Hamish Reid

The California Driving Guide is written and maintained by Hamish Reid, a software designer, photographer, and writer based in the Jingletown district of Oakland, California (my name is pronounced "haymish" (it's Scottish), not some variant of "Hah-meesh" or similar). I'm an UnAmerican, being British by birth, Australian by education, and all over the place residentially. I've actually lived here now for at least 20 years; someday I may have the operation and become an American citizen; maybe not.

I have my own (very out-of-date) web sites and blogs here, here, and here, mostly concerned with photography, imaging, and writing. I also have a CafePress.com shop for California Driving Guide stuff (mugs, postcards, calendars, etc.); this is in addition to my CafePress.com Jingletown shop that sells slightly odd merchandise based on my Oakland neighbourhood (a place called "Jingletown", funnily enough). There's also an embryonic Imagekind.com store with a small selection of my higher-quality hi-resolution art prints for sale, which will also one day contain images from the Guide for purchase.
